Theoretical Entertainment is the production outlet for the projects of writer-director Chris Hansen.

So -- maybe you want to hear more about me... er, him? Okay, then, here’s some info:

Chris Hansen is an award-winning writer-director who teaches film and screenwriting at Baylor University. His screenwriting achievements include placing in:

  • The Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting – given by the motion picture academy (quarterfinalist)
  • The Slamdance Screenplay Competition (top 20 overall)
  • Houston Worldfest (Platinum 1st place award for Original Screenplay-Drama and Silver award for Original Screenplay-Comedy)
  • Fade In Magazine’s Fade In Awards (semifinalist for two different scripts)
  • The Chesterfield Writers Film Fellowship (semifinalist)
  • The Writers Network Script Competition (quarterfinalist)

Hansen’s films include:

  • The Proper Care & Feeding of an American Messiah, a feature shot in HD, released on DVD, iTunes, and limited theatrical run.
  • Clean Freak, a mini-DV short that has played in festivals around the US and in Canada.
  • Keeping Up With the Joneses, a mini-DV short that played in the San Francisco Independent Film Festival, the Hollywood.com Indie Film Fest, and the Regent/Naro Film Festival; and
  • Flanagan’s Exile, a 16 mm short that won an Angel Award from Excellence in Media and played in the New York International Independent Film & Video Fest, the Telluride Independent Film Festival, Film Front Festival, the University Film and Video Association’s Festival, and on PBS.
  • Monsters Don’t Get to Cry (screenwriter only), an indie film directed by Kurando Mitsutake, adapted by Hansen from his original play)

He has also written, produced, and directed numerous short educational videos and multimedia projects for use in graduate classes and online learning environments.
